Actor

An Equity Membership Candidate (EMC) stage actor,  Matt was recently on tour with Griffin Theatre's Letters Home. Matt also enjoys acting for the screen, and most recently played the lead in the Honeybaby Film's award-nominated short film, Eating the Sun.

Director

Matt is a passionate stage director with extensive experience developing new work from first draft to full production. He most recently directed a staged reading of the Midwest Premiere production of Desi Moreno-Penson's Devil Land.

Producer

Matt has produced staged work for UrbanTheater Company (UTC), Blatant Testimony, and Cold Basement Dramatics, among others. He is also the Co-Founder and Producing Director of Whiskey Neat Productions (WNP), an independent film company based in Wisconsin.

 

Administrator

With over 2 years of experience as the Company Manager of UTC, Matt has experience in casting/hiring, scheduling, budgeting, and fundraising. Matt has also worked at Groupon, where he focused on Escalation & Claim Resolution, as well as developing efficient communication platforms.


BIO

Matt Dreier is a theater and film artist who has worked around the Midwest as an actor, director, and producer. He graduated from Coe College (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) in 2009 with majors in Theater Arts and Political Science. Since then, he has worked with such companies as UrbanTheater Company (Chicago), Prairie Fire Children's Theatre (Minnesota), Madison Theater Guild (Madison), and The Scioto Society (Ohio). Some of his favorite acting roles include Jamie in Hot L Baltimore, Aaron White in Letters Home, and Vince in the WNP short film Catalyst.  His directing and producing credits include 5 Midwest premieres and 5 new works, among them UTC's production of Sonnets for an Old Century by Jose Rivera, developed as part of Steppenwolf's Garage Rep. Matt also has extensive administrative experience, particularly in the area of arts technology and in utilizing crowdfunding platforms.

Beginning this fall, Matt will be attending the University of Wisconsin Madison, where he is pursuing an M.B.A. in Arts Administration. During his first year, Matt will also serve as the Project Assistant for one of the University's undergraduate classes, "Arts Enterprise: Art as Business as Art."


UPCOMING PROJECTS

  • Currently in pre-production on Surprise, a short film to be shot with Whiskey Neat Productions. Scheduled for release by the end of 2013.
